My Story

Lessons Learned:

Two major life events have shaped my choices and propelled me toward the work I have done: the first was my diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes, made when I was 14, and the second was the death of my father, an athletic, youthful 53-year-old. I learned early that life' s shifting foundation requires that I act on my passions right now, and that truth and fairness are elusive, unless they have a spotlight shone upon them.

My Work:

There is so much suffering in this world. I learned how the news is manufactured and how powerful it is in shaping public perception (writing for CNN and Fox News). So I chose to use the media, working for Danny Schechter in alternative media and then GNN, to expose injustices and give a voice to those who are ignored. Even my consulting work has always been about introducing people to new ideas in the hopes of encouraging more holistic thinking.

My Personal Life:

In my personal life, I have felt empowered by taking certain risks: leading canoe trips in remote regions of northern Ontario, working on a salmon boat in Alaska, exploring lesser known cultures of the world, choosing courses at university that were outside my comfort zone. The Sauvé Scholarship programme provided me with the invigorating, transformative rush of sharing life with 12 other young leaders from all over the globe: eating, debating, culture blending with people I would otherwise have never met, and who have remained my lifelong friends.

From the sublime to the ridiculous,

my range of experience is broad and eclectic.
